Fast-growing chain Smoothie King, which began entering the Michigan market in 2019, opened a Royal Oak location Tuesday at 3135 W. Thirteen Mile Road at the corner of Coolidge.
It’s the first Smoothie King location in Oakland County. A second location is scheduled to open on Sept. 1 at 29111 Telegraph Road in Southfield.
Both locations are owned and operated by Christopher Klebba of North Diamond Management. Smoothie King is Dallas-based franchise and operates more than 1,100 stores globally. In Michigan, there are plans for 50 locations. In 2019, Klebba opened nine Michigan locations.
“Our new Royal Oak and Southfield openings mark Smoothie King’s first locations in Oakland County and are important to our overall growth,”
Smoothie King CEO Wan Kim said in a news release. “We carefully choose each ingredient in our Smoothies to help our guests achieve their purpose, reach their goals and truly rule each day.”

The company’s mission, according to its website, is to “inspire people to live a healthy and active lifestyle.” Its smoothie menu is geared to helping customers meet health and fitness goals. Customers can customize their smoothie ingredients to meet individual goals, such as slimming down.
Grand openings for the Oakland County Smoothie Kings are set for Aug. 29 in Royal Oak and Sept. 19 in Southfield. During the celebrations, two guests every hour will be awarded a prize: one free 20-ounce smoothie a week for 52 weeks.
Regular hours for both locations are 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m-8 p.m. Sunday.
While the dining rooms are closed temporarily, you can order at the drive-through or in advance with Smoothie King’s Healthy Rewards app.
